And what are the four blessings? Furthermore, he was long-lived, more so than other humans. This is the second blessing. Then Venerable Ānanda went up to the Buddha, bowed, sat down to one side, and said to him, “Sir, please don’t be fully extinguished in this little hamlet, this jungle hamlet, this branch hamlet. では、四つの神変（iddhi）とは何であるか。
さらにまた、アーナンダよ、マハースダッサナ王は長命にして、他の人々よりもはるかに久しくこの世に留まられた。アーナンダよ、マハースダッサナ王はこの第二の神変（dutiyā iddhi）を具えておられたのである。
さて、そのとき尊者アーナンダは世尊のもとへ赴き、世尊を礼拝して、かたわらに坐した。かたわらに坐した尊者アーナンダは、世尊にこのように申し上げた。
「尊師よ、どうか世尊は、この小さな町、辺鄙な町、枝葉の町において般涅槃（parinibbāna）に入られませんように。尊師よ、他にも大きな都城がございます。すなわち、チャンパー、ラージャガハ、サーヴァッティー、サーケータ、コーサンビー、ヴァーラーナシーなどでございます。どうか世尊はそこにおいて般涅槃に入られますように。それらの都城には、多くの裕福な刹帝利（khattiya）たちや、婆羅門（brāhmaṇa）たちが……」
