ラーマ村においては、一つの牙を龍王（ナーガラージャ）が供養し奉る。また一つは三十三天（ティディヴァ）の神々によって礼拝され、一つはガンダーラの都市において尊崇され、カリンガ王の領土においてはさらに一つが祀られ、そしてもう一つを龍王が供養し奉る。この大地（ヴァスンダラー）が豊かであるのは、まさにそれらの功徳の力（テージャ）によるのである。
「アーナンダよ、もし僧伽（サンガ）が望むならば、わたしの滅後において、軽微な戒律（クッダーヌクッダカ・シッカーパダ）を廃することを許す。アーナンダよ、わたしの滅後、比丘チャンナに対しては梵罰（ブラフマダンダ）を与えるべきである。」
「しかし、師よ、梵罰とはいかなるものでございましょうか。」
「アーナンダよ、チャンナ比丘が何を語ろうとも、他の比丘たちは彼に語りかけることなく、教え諭すことなく、戒めることなく、ただ沈黙をもって臨むべきである。これが梵罰というものである。」
