‘Vāseṭṭhas, the Buddha has become fully quenched. Please come at your convenience.’” “Yes, sir,” replied Ānanda. Then, in the morning, he robed up and, taking his bowl and robe, entered Kusinārā with a companion. Now at that time the Mallas of Kusinārā were sitting together at the town hall still on the same business. Ānanda went up to them, and announced, “Vāseṭṭhas, the Buddha has become fully quenched. 「ヴァーセッタたちよ、世尊は完全に涅槃（パリニッバーナ）に入られました。今こそ、ふさわしい時と思われるならばお越しください。」
「かしこまりました、尊者よ」と、アーナンダ長老はアヌルッダ長老の言葉に従い、夜明けの頃に衣を整え、鉢と衣を携えて、一人の伴を連れてクシナーラーへと入った。
その頃、クシナーラーのマッラ族の人々は、まさにこの同じ用向きのために、集会所に集まっていた。そこでアーナンダ長老は、クシナーラーのマッラ族の集会所へと赴き、集まったマッラ族の人々に告げた。
「ヴァーセッタたちよ、世尊は完全に涅槃（パリニッバーナ）に入られました。今こそ、ふさわしい時と思われるならばお越しください。」
