「スバッダよ、この法（ダンマ）と律（ヴィナヤ）においてこそ、八正道（ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo）が見出されるのだ。ここにのみ第一の沙門（samaṇa）があり、ここに第二の沙門があり、ここに第三の沙門があり、ここに第四の沙門がある。他の外道の説は、沙門において空虚である。もしこれらの比丘たちが正しく修行するならば、世界は阿羅漢（arahant）を欠くことなく満たされるであろう。
