When the Buddha had stayed in Ambalaṭṭhikā as long as he pleased, he addressed Venerable Ānanda, “Come, Ānanda, let’s go to Nāḷandā.” “Yes, sir,” Ānanda replied. Then the Buddha together with a large Saṅgha of mendicants arrived at Nāḷandā, where he stayed in Pāvārika’s mango grove. 4. かくして世尊（ bhagavā）は、アンバラッティカーにおいて思う存分滞在された後、尊者アーナンダに告げられた。「さあアーナンダよ、ナーランダーへ参ろう。」「かしこまりました、師よ」と、尊者アーナンダは世尊にお答えした。かくして世尊は、大いなる比丘僧伽（bhikkhusaṅgha）とともにナーランダーに赴かれ、そこパーヴァーリカの菴羅樹園（ambavana）に滞在された。
四 サーリプッタの獅子吼（sīhanāda）
そのとき、尊者サーリプッタは世尊のもとへ参り、世尊を礼拝して、かたわらに座した。かたわらに座した尊者サーリプッタは、世尊に向かってこのように申し上げた。「未来において出現されるであろう、すべての阿羅漢（arahant）・正等覚者（sammāsambuddha）なる諸仏については、いかがでございましょうか。世尊はそれらの方々について……」
