He has well-planted feet. On the soles of his feet there are thousand-spoked wheels, with rims and hubs, complete in every detail. He has stretched heels. These are the thirty-two marks of a great man that the prince has. A great man who possesses these has only two possible destinies, no other. If he stays at home he becomes a king, a wheel-turning monarch. 彼の足は大地にしっかりと据わっている。その足の裏には、千本の輻（や）を持つ輪（チャッカ）が現れており、輞（わ）と轂（こしき）を備え、あらゆる点において完全無欠である。また、彼のかかとは広く伸びやかである。これらは、この王子が具える大人（マハープリサ）の相（ラッカナ）である。
かくの如き三十二の大人の相を具えた者には、ただ二つの運命のみがあり、他にはない。もし俗家にとどまるならば、王となり、輪宝（チャッカ）を転じる転輪聖王（チャッカヴァッティ）となる。しかるに、もし家を捨てて出家（パッバッジャー）の道に入るならば、世において煩悩を滅尽した者、すなわち阿羅漢（アラハン）となり、正しく完全な覚りを開いた者、世の覆いを取り除く正等覚者（サンマーサンブッダ）となるであろう。
