The Buddha said this: It’s normal that, when the being intent on awakening emerges from his mother’s womb, then—in this world with its gods, Māras, and divinities, this population with its ascetics and brahmins, gods and humans—an immeasurable, magnificent light appears, surpassing the glory of the gods. Even in the boundless gloom of interstellar space—so utterly dark that even the luminosity of the moon and the sun, so mighty and powerful, makes no impression—an immeasurable, magnificent light
世尊はこのように説かれた。「比丘たちよ、これは諸法の定め（ダンマター）というべきものである。菩薩（ボーサッタ）が母の胎内より出でるとき、神々・悪魔・梵天を含むこの世界において、また沙門・婆羅門・神々・人々よりなるこの民の中において、限りなく崇高な光明が現れ出で、神々の神威をも超え輝き渡るのである。さらに、あの世界の狭間に広がる暗黒の虚空——遮るものなく、深く閉ざされ、いかなる光をも寄せ付けぬ漆黒の闇——かの大いなる神通と威力を具えた月と太陽の光すら、ついに届かぬその場所においてさえも、限りなく崇高な光明が現れ出で、神々の神威をもはるかに超え輝き渡るのである。そして、そこに生を受けた衆生たちもまた、その光明によって、互いに……
