〔汚れた心を持ち、力なき三明の婆羅門と、汚れなき心を持ち、力ある梵天とは相容れるか〕
「ヴァーセッタよ、三明（tevijjā）を備えた婆羅門たちは、〔心に〕怨みなく、瞋恚（dosa）なく、汚れ（saṅkilesa）なく、しかも自在力（vasavattitā）を具えた梵天（brahmā）に対して、あらゆる点においてその反対であります。さて、梵天と相反するこれらの婆羅門たちが、梵天とともに和合し、一致することがありましょうか。」
「いいえ、ゴータマ尊者よ、それはありません。」
「よろしい、ヴァーセッタよ。まことに、梵天と相反するこれらの三明の婆羅門たちが、身体の壊滅（kāyassa bheda）ののち、死後（paraṁ maraṇā）に、自在なる梵天の眷属（sahabyūpagā）として生まれることがあろうとは――そのような道理はまったく存しないのであります。
さてヴァーセッタよ、これらの三明を称する婆羅門たちは、〔水辺に〕近づきながらも沈み込み、沈み込みながらますます沈淪し、涸れ果てたる〔岸辺へと〕至るのみであります。」
