「ゴータマ尊者よ、それはございません」
「では、ヴァーセッタよ、三ヴェーダに通じたバラモンたちの昔の仙人（イシ）たち、すなわち、かの聖典の作者にして流布者たちはどうであろうか。今日の三ヴェーダに通じたバラモンたちが、古より歌われ、説かれ、集められた古来の聖典の句を、唱和し、読誦し、説かれたことを繰り返し説き、教えられたことを繰り返し教えている、あの仙人たちのことである。すなわち、アッタカ、ヴァーマカ、ヴァーマデーヴァ、ヴェッサーミッタ、ヤマタッギ、アンギーラサ、バーラドヴァージャ、ヴァーセッタ、カッサパ、バグという者たちがそれである。はたしてかれらもまた——」
