paṭhamaṁ jhānaṁ upasampajja viharati … yasmiṁ kho, lohicca, satthari sāvako evarūpaṁ uḷāraṁ visesaṁ adhigacchati, ayampi kho, lohicca, satthā, yo loke nacodanāraho. Yo ca panevarūpaṁ satthāraṁ codeti, sā codanā abhūtā atacchā adhammikā sāvajjā. Assosi kho lohicco brāhmaṇo: “samaṇo khalu, bho, gotamo sakyaputto sakyakulā pabbajito kosalesu cārikaṁ caramāno mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṁ pañcamattehi bhikkhusatehi sālavatikaṁ anuppatto.
