「コーサラ王パセーナディは、カーシとコーサラの両国を治めておられる。カーシとコーサラの地から生じるいかなる収益も、パセーナディ王がただひとりで享受すべきであり、他の者たちに与えるべきではない」と。このように説く者は、パセーナディ王に頼って生計を立てているあなたがたや、その他の人々にとって、妨げ（antarāya）となるであろうか、それともならないであろうか」と。「妨げとなりましょう、ゴータマ尊者よ」と。「では、他者の妨げをなす者は、彼らの利益を思いやる者（hitānukampī）であろうか、それとも利益を思いやらぬ者（ahitānukampī）であろうか」と。ロヒッチャよ、かくのごとく、もしそのようなことを説く者があるならば、利益を思いやらぬ者であると言うべきである。利益を思いやらぬ者には、怨敵（sapattaka）の心が現れ出るのであり、怨敵の心においては——
