そのとき、大梵天（マハーブラフマー）はその比丘の腕をとり、傍らへ連れ出して、こう告げた。
「比丘よ、これら梵天衆（ブラフマカーヤカ）の神々は、わたしについてこのように知っている――『梵天の知らざるものは何もなく、梵天の見ざるものは何もなく、梵天の識らざるものは何もなく、梵天の証せざるものは何もない』と。それゆえわたしは、かれらの面前ではお答えしなかったのだ。しかし比丘よ、わたし自身もまた、これら四大（パタヴィー・ダートゥ、アーポ・ダートゥ、テージョ・ダートゥ、ヴァーヨー・ダートゥ）――地の界、水の界、火の界、風の界――が、余すところなく滅し去る場所を、知らないのである。」
