かく語り終えると、尊者アーナンダはその若者にこう告げた。「御身よ、これだけのことは取り計らいました。少なくとも、尊きアーナンダが明日お訪ねする機会を得たのですから。」「若き学徒よ、今は時節にあらず。今日すでに薬を服しておりますゆえ。願わくは、明日こそ時と機会を得てお訪ねできればと存じます。」「さようでございます、尊者よ」と、その若者は尊者アーナンダのことばに従い、座より立ち上がって、トーデッヤの子なるスッバ（Subha）青年のもとへ赴いた。赴いて、トーデッヤの子なるスッバ青年にかくの如く告げた。その夜が明けると、アーナンダは朝に衣を整え、鉢と衣を持って出立した——
