‘But reverends, what is that mind-made incarnation?’ We’d answer like this, ‘<em>This</em> is that mind-made incarnation.’ If others should ask us, ‘But reverends, what is that formless incarnation?’ We’d answer like this, ‘<em>This</em> is that formless incarnation.’ What do you think, Poṭṭhapāda? 「しかし、友よ、その意によって成る自己（manomaya attapaṭilābho）とはいかなるものでありましょうか」と問われるならば、われわれはかく答えるでしょう——「これこそが、その意によって成る自己である」と。また、「友よ、その無色なる自己（arūpa attapaṭilābho）とはいかなるものでありましょうか」と問われるならば、われわれはかく答えるでしょう——「これこそが、その無色なる自己である」と。
ポッタパーダよ、そなたはいかに思われるか。このようである以上、これらの言葉は、指し示すべき根拠を有することにはならないであろうか。」
