Oḷārikassapi kho ahaṁ, poṭṭhapāda, attapaṭilābhassa pahānāya dhammaṁ desemi: ‘yathāpaṭipannānaṁ vo saṅkilesikā dhammā pahīyissanti, vodāniyā dhammā abhivaḍḍhissanti, paññāpāripūriṁ vepullattañca diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharissathā’ti. Siyā kho pana te, poṭṭhapāda, evamassa: ‘saṅkilesikā dhammā pahīyissanti, vodāniyā dhammā abhivaḍḍhissanti, paññāpāripūriṁ vepullattañca diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṁ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharissati, dukkho ca kho vihāro’ti. I teach the Dhamma for the giving up of reincarnation in these three kinds of incarnation. ‘When you practice accordingly, corrupting qualities will be given up in you and cleansing qualities will grow. 「ポッタパーダよ、わたしはこれら三種の自己（アッタ・パティラーバ）の捨断のために法（ダンマ）を説く。『汝らが如法に修行するならば、汚染の法（サンキレーシカー・ダンマー）は汝らのうちに捨断され、清浄の法（ヴォーダーニヤー・ダンマー）は増大するであろう。そして汝らは、まさにこの現世において、みずから直智をもって証知し、智慧の円満（パンニャー・パーリプーリ）と広大なることを具足して住するであろう』と。されどポッタパーダよ、汝はかくのごとく思うかもしれぬ。『汚染の法は捨断され、清浄の法は増大するであろう。そしてかの者は、まさにこの現世において、みずから直智をもって証知し、智慧の円満と広大なることを具足して住するであろう、しかしながらその住はまさに苦しみを伴うものであろう』と。しかしながら、そのように見なしてはならない。」
