「カッサパよ、賢明なる人々が丁寧に問い、深く究め、語り合うならば、こう言うであろうことは十分にありうる。『ゴータマ（Gotama）の弟子たちの僧伽（saṅgha）は、他の諸師の弟子たちの僧伽と比べて、これらの善法（dhamma）をあますところなく受持して実践している』と。かくして、カッサパよ、賢明なる人々が丁寧に問い、深く究め、語り合うならば、その点においてほとんどの場合、我々をこそ称讃するであろう。
二、八聖道（ariya-aṭṭhaṅgika-magga）
カッサパよ、道（magga）がある、実践の道（paṭipadā）がある。その道にしたがって実践するならば、あなたはみずから知り、みずから見るであろう。『沙門ゴータマこそは、時にかなって語る者（kālavādī）、真実を語る者（bhūtavādī）、意義を語る者（atthavādī）、法を語る者（dhammavādī）、律を語る者（vinayavādī）である』と。」
