そのときオッカーカ王は、長子（ちょうし）に向けて刃の矢を射た。しかるに王子は無事にして、少しも乱れることがなかった。王はこれに恐れおののき、震撼し、身の毛もよだつほどの驚きを覚えた。梵罰（ぼんばつ）を畏れた王は、マッダルーピーと申す王女をアンバッタに娶らせたのである。「若き学徒たちよ、アンバッタ青年のことを、奴隷の子と呼んで、あまりに激しく貶めてはならない。かのカンハ（黒子）は、まことに偉大なる聖仙（いせん）であったのだから」と。
そこで世尊は、若き学徒たちに向かってこのように仰せになった。「若き学徒たちよ、アンバッタ青年のことを、奴隷の子と言いて、あまりに激しく貶めてはならない。かのカンハはまことに偉大なる聖仙であった。彼は南方の地へおもむき、バラモンの聖典（ヴェーダ）を学んだのである」
