大王よ、譬えば、熟練した陶工（とうこう）あるいはその弟子が、よく練り上げられた粘土をもって、いかなる器の形をも望みのままに作り上げ、完成させることができるようなものであります。また大王よ、譬えば、熟練した象牙細工師あるいはその弟子が、よく仕上げられた象牙をもって、いかなる象牙の細工物をも望みのままに作り上げ、完成させることができるようなものであります。また大王よ、譬えば、熟練した金細工師あるいはその弟子が、よく精錬された金をもって、いかなる金の細工物をも望みのままに作り上げ、完成させることができるようなものであります。それと同じく、修行者の心が、かくのごとく三昧（さんまい）に入り、清浄にして、光明あり、垢穢（くえ）なく、汚れを離れ……
