They don’t move or deteriorate or obstruct each other. They’re unable to cause pleasure, pain, or both pleasure and pain to each other. What seven? The substances of earth, water, fire, air; pleasure, pain, and the soul is the seventh. These seven substances are not made, not derived, not created, without a creator, barren, steady as a mountain peak, standing firm like a pillar. それらは動ぜず、変滅せず、互いに妨げることもない。また、互いに楽（スカ）を与えることも、苦（ドゥッカ）を与えることも、苦楽をともに与えることもできない。その七つとは何か。地の元素（パタヴィカーヤ）、水の元素（アーポカーヤ）、火の元素（テージョカーヤ）、風の元素（ヴァーヨカーヤ）、楽（スカ）、苦（ドゥッカ）、そして第七として命我（ジーヴァ）である。これら七つの元素は、作られたものにあらず、作られた因縁によるものにあらず、形成されたものにあらず、形成者によるものにあらず、不毛にして、山の頂のごとく不動に、柱のごとく確固として立てり。それらは動ぜず、変滅せず、互いに妨げることもない。また、互いに楽を与えることも、苦を与えることも、苦楽をともに与えることもできない。そこには、殺す者もなく、殺させる者もなく、聴く者もなく、聴かせる者もなく、知る者もなく、知らせる者もない。
