「ちょうど糸まりを投げると、ほどけながら転がり去るように、愚かな者も賢い者も、流転し輪廻（サンサーラ）しながら、やがて苦（ドゥッカ）の終わりをもたらすであろう。」
「大王よ、衆生（サッタ）の汚染（サンキレーサ）には、何ら原因（ヘートゥ）もなく、何ら縁（パッチャヤ）もない。衆生は原因なく縁なくして汚れる。また、衆生の清浄（ヴィスッディ）には、何ら原因もなく、何ら縁もない。衆生は原因なく縁なくして清らかとなる。自らの意志によって行ずることもなく、他者の意志によって行ずることもなく、人の力によって行ずることもない。力もなく、精進（ヴィーリヤ）もなく、人の剛毅もなく、人の勇猛もない。すべての衆生、すべての生きとし生けるもの、すべての存在、すべての命あるものは、自在の力を持たず、力を持たず……」
