「大王よ、あなたの心は愛しき者のもとへ飛んでいったのですか」
「尊者よ、私はわが子、ウダーイバッダ王子をこよなく愛しております。尊者よ、どうかあの子が、今この比丘僧伽（びくさんが）の享けているような、かかる寂静（じゃくじょう）の境地を得ることができますように」
そのとき、マガダ国王アジャータサットゥ・ヴェーデーヒープッタは、世尊を礼拝し、比丘僧伽に向かって合掌して、かたわらに坐した。かたわらに坐したマガダ国王は、世尊にこのように申し上げた。
