‘It seems that there is such a thing as bad deeds, and the result of bad conduct,’ I grant them that. And when they say: ‘I have seen an individual here who killed living creatures … and had wrong view. And after death, they were reborn in hell,’ I also grant them that. But when they say: ‘It seems that everyone who kills living creatures … and has wrong view is reborn in hell,’ I don’t grant them that. 「悪しき業（カルマ）というものが存在し、悪しき行いには果報があるのだ」——その者がそのように述べる点については、私はこれを認める。また「私はここにおいて、生き物を殺し、与えられざるものを取り……邪見（ミッチャーディッティ）を抱いていた者を見た。そしてその者は、身体の壊れるとともに、死後において、悪趣（アパーヤ）・苦界（ドゥッガティ）・堕処（ヴィニパータ）・地獄（ニラヤ）に生まれたのである」とその者が述べる点についても、私はこれを認める。しかしながら、「生き物を殺し、与えられざるものを取り……邪見を抱く者は、すべて身体の壊れるとともに、死後において、悪趣・苦界・堕処・地獄に生まれるのだ」とその者が述べる点については、私はこれを認めない。そして「このように知る者こそが正しき見解を持つ者であり、それ以外の見解を持つ者は……」とその者が述べる点についても——
