That’s how you don’t anticipate the future. The heart is not set on getting what it does not have, thinking: ‘May I have such eyes and such sights in the future.’ So you don’t take pleasure in that, and that’s when you no longer anticipate the future. このようにして、未来を期待することなく過ごすのである。「未来の世において、このような眼（チャックス）があり、このような色（ルーパ）があれば」と思い、まだ得ていないものを得ようと心（チッタ）を傾けることなく、心が傾かぬゆえにそれを喜ぶことなく、喜ばぬゆえに未来を期待することもない。「未来の世において、このような耳（ソータ）があり、このような声（サッダ）があれば」……「このような鼻（ガーナ）があり、このような香（ガンダ）があれば」……「このような舌（ジヴハー）があり、このような味（ラサ）があれば」……「このような身（カーヤ）があり、このような触（ポッタッバ）があれば」……「このような意（マノ）があり、このような法（ダンマ）があれば」と思い、まだ得ていないものを得ようと心を傾けることなく、心が傾かぬゆえにそれを喜ぶことなく、喜ばぬゆえに未来を期待することもない。このようにして、人は未来を期待せずにあるのである。
