「何も見ませんでした、尊者よ」と彼は答える。するとビクたちよ、閻魔王（ヤマ王）はこのように言う。「おい、そなた、人間たちの中に、病を得て苦しみ、重い病に罹り、自らの尿と糞の中に倒れ臥し、ある者たちに抱き起こされ、またある者たちに寝かされている女や男を、見なかったとでも言うのか」と。彼はこのように答える。「見ました、尊者よ」と。
するとビクたちよ、閻魔王はその者に向かって、さらにこのように言う。
かくてビクたちよ、閻魔王は、第三の天の使（デーヴァドゥータ）についてその者を詰問し、究明し、説き明かした後、さらに第四の天の使について詰問し、究明し、説き明かす。ビクたちよ、閻魔王はその者にこのように言う。「おい友よ、そなたは思慮ある大人でありながら、このことが心に浮かばなかったのか——悪しき行いをなした者がかかる苦（ドゥッカ）を受けるならば……」
