「カッチャーナ友よ、その点において、かの天界には光明の限られた天人もあれば、また量り知れぬ光明を持つ天人もおります。」
「アヌルッダ尊者よ、では何がその原因（ヘートゥ）であり、何がその縁（パッチャヤ）なのでしょうか。同じひとつの天の群（デーヴァニカーヤ）に生まれながら、光明の限られた天人もあれば、量り知れぬ光明を持つ天人もある、その理由は何でしょうか。」
「カッチャーナ友よ、どのようにお考えですか。ある比丘がひとつの村の領域（ガーマッケッタ）の広がりを『広大なり』と遍満（パリッタ）させ、意を注いで住する場合と、また別の比丘が二つあるいは三つの村の領域を……あるいは一つの国土を……二つあるいは三つの国土を……『広大なり』と遍満させ、意を注いで住する場合とでは――カッチャーナ友よ、あなたのお考えを聞かせてください。あなたの思われるままにお答えください。」
