「よく調教され、よく訓練されたその二頭は、調教された者のなすべき仕事を果たし、調教された者の境地に達することができるでしょうか」
「はい、尊師よ、そのとおりでございます」
「では、調教されず、訓練されていないその二頭は、よく調教され、よく訓練された二頭と同じように、調教された者のなすべき仕事を果たし、調教された者の境地に達することができるでしょうか」
「いいえ、尊師よ、それはできません」
「アッギヴェッサナよ、まさにそのように、ジャヤセーナ王子は欲楽（kāma）のただ中に住し、欲楽を享受し、欲楽への思いに囚われ、欲楽の熱に焼かれ、さらなる欲楽を渇き求めている。そのような者が、出離（nekkhamma）によってのみ知られるべきことを知り、出離によってのみ見られるべきことを見ることは、断じてあり得ないことなのです」
