「菩薩（ぼさつ）は、その寿命のある限り、兜率天（とそつてん）の衆のうちに留まり給うた」と。尊者よ、菩薩が寿命の尽きるまで兜率天の衆のうちに留まり給いしこと、これもまた私は世尊の希有（けう）にして未曾有なる法として憶持（おくじ）いたしております。尊者よ、これは世尊の御前にて親しく聴聞し、親しく受持したことでございます。すなわち、「アーナンダよ、菩薩は正念（しょうねん）にして正知（しょうち）のまま、兜率天の衆を去りて母の胎内に宿り給うた」と。尊者よ、菩薩が正念正知のままに兜率天の衆を去りて母の胎内に入り給いしこと、これもまた私は世尊の希有にして未曾有なる法として憶持いたしております。尊者よ、これもまた世尊の御前にて親しく聴聞したことでございます。「菩薩が母の胎内に入り給う時……」
