‘When the being intent on awakening emerges from his mother’s womb, he emerges already clean, unsoiled by waters, mucus, blood, or any other kind of impurity, pure and clean. Suppose a jewel-treasure was placed on a cloth from Kāsi. The jewel would not soil the cloth, nor would the cloth soil the jewel. Why is that? Because of the cleanliness of them both. 「アーナンダよ、菩薩（ボーサッタ）が母の胎内より出でますとき、その御身はすでに清浄にして出でたもう。水にも汚されず、粘液にも汚されず、血にも汚されず、いかなる不浄なるものにも汚されることなく、清らかに、清浄に出でたもうのである。アーナンダよ、たとえばカーシ産の上質の布の上に、宝珠（マニ）が置かれたとき、その宝珠は布を汚さず、布もまた宝珠を汚すことがない。それはなぜであるか。両者がともに清浄なるがゆえである。まさにそのように、アーナンダよ、菩薩が母の胎内より出でますとき、その御身はすでに清浄にして出でたもう。水にも汚されず、粘液にも汚されず、血にも汚されず、いかなる不浄なるものにも汚されることなく、清らかに、清浄に出でたもうのである。」
