They recollect many kinds of past lives, with features and details. With clairvoyance that is purified and superhuman, they see sentient beings passing away and being reborn—inferior and superior, beautiful and ugly, in a good place or a bad place. They understand how sentient beings pass on according to their deeds. They realize the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life. かれは、さまざまな過去世（ぷれにわーさ）を、その様相と細部とともに憶念（おくねん）する。
清浄にして人間を超えた天眼（てんげん）をもって、かれは諸々の有情（うじょう）が没し、また生まれつつあるさまを見る――劣れる者と優れる者、美しき者と醜き者、善趣（ぜんしゅ）に赴く者と悪趣（あくしゅ）に赴く者を。かれは、有情たちが各自の業（ごう）に従いて趣くさまを、如実に了知する。
そして、諸々の漏（ろ）の滅尽（めつじん）によって、漏なき心解脱（しんげだつ）と慧解脱（えげだつ）とを、現世においてみずから直証（じきしょう）し、具足して住する。
比丘たちよ、身至念（しんしねん）を修し、닦き、多く修習し、乗り物となし、基盤となすならば――
