「このような身（アッタバーヴァ）を受けるべきである——世尊よ、私はこのように、世尊が簡略に説かれ、詳しくはその義（アッタ）を分別されなかった御言葉の意味を、かように詳しく理解いたします。」
「よし、よし、舎利弗（サーリプッタ）よ。舎利弗よ、汝がかくのごとく、我が簡略に説きて詳しくはその義を分別せざりし言葉の意味を、このように詳しく理解したことは、まことによきことである。」
かくして世尊は、尊者舎利弗の解説を余すところなく繰り返し、これを是認された。そして世尊はさらに次のように説き進められた。
「比丘（ビク）たちよ、私は汝らに、修すべきものと修すべからざるものとに関する教法の解説を説くであろう。よく聴き、よく心に作意（マナシカーラ）せよ。今より説くであろう。」
「世尊よ、然り。」と比丘たちは答えた。
