中部経典（MN113 §4-6.5–7.3）
‘I have gone forth from an extremely wealthy family, unlike these other mendicants.’ And they glorify themselves and put others down on account of that. This too is a quality of an untrue person. A true person reflects: ‘It’s not because of one’s extremely wealthy family that thoughts of greed, hate, or delusion come to an end. Furthermore, take an untrue person who is well-known and famous. 「わたしは極めて富裕な家柄から出家したが、ほかの比丘たちはそうではない」と。かれはその富裕な家柄をもって自らを高め、他者を蔑む。比丘たちよ、これもまた非善人（アサップリサ）の法（ダンマ）である。
しかるに善人（サップリサ）は、かくのごとく省察する。「およそ極めて富裕な家柄に生まれたからとて、貪りの法（ローバ・ダンマ）が滅し去るわけではなく、瞋りの法（ドーサ・ダンマ）が滅し去るわけでもなく、愚痴の法（モーハ・ダンマ）が滅し去るわけでもない」と。
さらにまた、比丘たちよ、非善人は名声高く世に知られた者となる。かれは修行の道（パティパダー）をひとり胸に秘めたまま、その名声をもって自らを高めることもなく、他者を蔑むこともない。
