かの人は、「自分はそれに捉われていない」（atammayatā）という事実をひとり胸に秘めて、初禅（paṭhamajjhāna）の等至（samāpatti）を得たことをもって自らを誇ることなく、また他者を蔑むこともない。
さらにまた、比丘たちよ、真人にあらざる者が、尋（vitakka）と伺（vicāra）の静まりによって、内なる清澄さと心の一境性（ekodibhāva）を得て、尋なく伺なく、定より生ずる喜（pīti）と楽（sukha）とを具えた第二禅（dutiyajjhāna）に入り……
「いかなるものとして思い量ろうとも、実はそれとは異なるものである」と。
かの人は、「自分はそれに捉われていない」という事実をひとり胸に秘めて、第四禅（catutthajjhāna）の等至を得たことをもって自らを誇ることなく、また他者を蔑むこともない。比丘たちよ、これもまた真人の法（sappurisadhamma）である。
