「取り（うぱーだーな）を有する比丘は、完全な涅槃（ぱりにっばーな）に入ることができない。」
「では、尊師よ、次のように修行する比丘がおります。『それはあるべきでなく、それは我がものであるべきでない。それはあらないであろう、それは我がものとはならないであろう。現に存在するもの、すでに生起したるもの——それをわれは捨て去らん』と。このように彼は平静（うぺっかー）を得ます。尊師よ、かかる比丘は完全な涅槃に入るでありましょうか、それとも入らないでありましょうか。」
「アーナンダよ、かかる比丘のうち、完全な涅槃に入る者もあれば、入らない者もあるであろう。」
