「わたしは、若者よ、梵天（ブラフマー）を知り、梵天の世界（ブラフマローカ）を知り、梵天の世界へと導く道を知っている。そして、その道を歩むことによって梵天の世界に生まれる者のことも、またよく知っている。」
「ゴータマ尊者よ、わたしはこのようなことを聞いたことがあります。『沙門ゴータマは、梵天とともにあること（梵天の伴侶となること）への道を知っている』と。」
「では、若者よ、そなたはどのように思うか。ナラカーラ村はここから近いか、それとも遠いか。」
「はい、尊者よ、ナラカーラ村はここから近く、遠くはありません。」
「では、若者よ、そなたはどのように思うか。ここにナラカーラ村で生まれ育った者がいたとしよう。その者がナラカーラ村からちょうど出立したとき、人々がその者にナラカーラ村への道を尋ねたとしたら——」
