「して、ダナンジャーニ婆羅門（バラモン）は、怠りなく精進しておるのでしょうか」
「いえ、友よ、どうしてダナンジャーニに精進などありましょうか。ダナンジャーニは、王の権威を笠に着ては婆羅門や居士（こじ）たちから搾り取り、婆羅門や居士たちを盾にしては王から掠め取っておるのです。しかもかつて添い遂げた妻は、信仰篤き家の出で、信仰篤き女人でありましたが、すでに世を去ってしまいました。そして今や、信もなく信なき家の出である女を新たに迎えたとのことです」
「ああ、友よ、これはなんと聞くも悲しい知らせでありましょうか。ダナンジャーニ婆羅門がかくも放逸（ほうい）に堕ちているとは。願わくば、いつの日か彼と相まみえ、ともに語らうことができればと思うものです」
