「かの尊者が説かれる法（ダンマ）は、深遠にして見難く、覚り難く、寂静にして崇高であり、思量（たっか）の及ぶところになく、精妙にして、智慧ある者のみがよく知ることのできるものである。迷妄（もうまい）に満ちた者が、かかる法を説き示すことは容易ではない。」
「さて、かの尊者には、迷妄を招くような諸々の性質（もろもろのほうもんじ）があるだろうか。そのような迷妄の性質によって心を覆われた者は、知らずして『知れり』と語り、見ずして『見たり』と語り、あるいは他者を勧めて、その人々に長きにわたって害となり苦となるようなことへと向かわせるかもしれない。」
こうしてその人をよく観察すると、次のように知る。「かの尊者には、そのような迷妄を招くような性質は存しない——」
