They spent much of the night discussing the teaching, then they lay down with their heads towards where the Buddha was and their feet towards me. It occurred to me: ‘Oh lord, how incredible, how amazing! These chamberlains Isidatta and Purāṇa share my meals and my carriages. I give them a livelihood and bring them renown. 彼らは夜の大半を法（ダンマ）についての語らいに費やし、やがて横になるとき、佛陀のおられる方角に頭を向け、私のいる方に足を向けて臥したのでございます。そのとき、尊者よ、私の心にこのような思いが起こりました。
「ああ、なんと不思議なことか、なんと驚くべきことか。このイシダッタとプラーナの両侍臣は、私の食事を共にし、私の車を使い、私から生計の糧を受け、私によって名声を得ている者どもである。しかるに、彼らは私に対しては、佛陀に向けるのと同じほどの敬意を示さぬのだ。まことにこの尊き方々は、佛陀（バガヴァ）の教えのうちに、以前にも増して深く高い証得（ヴィセーサ）を知っておられるに違いない。」
