Furthermore, as an anointed aristocratic king Then one of his disciples cleared their throat. And one of their spiritual companions nudged them with their knee, to indicate: ‘Hush, venerable, don’t make a sound! Our teacher, the Blessed One, is teaching!’ It occurred to me: ‘Oh lord, how incredible, how amazing, how an assembly can be so well trained without rod or sword!’ I don’t see any other assembly elsewhere so well trained. さらにまた、世尊よ、わたくしは灌頂を受けた刹帝利（かってい）の王でありますが、あるとき、世尊の弟子のひとりが咳払いをいたしました。すると、同じ梵行（ぼんぎょう）を修める仲間が、その者の膝を膝でそっと突いて、こう示したのでございます。「御身よ、静かになされよ。声を立ててはなりませぬ。われらの師、世尊が法（ダンマ）を説かれておられるのですから」と。
そのとき、世尊よ、わたくしの心にこのような思いが起こりました。「ああ、なんと驚くべきことであろうか。なんと希有なことであろうか。杖（刑罰）によらず、剣（威力）によらずして、かくも見事に調えられた集い（パリサ）があるとは」と。
世尊よ、わたくしはこれほどまでに見事に調えられた集いを、他のどこにも見いだすことができませぬ。
世尊よ、これもまた、わたくしが世尊について法（ダンマ）の道理に従って推し量ることのできる証しのひとつでございます。「世尊は――」
