He arranged his robe over one shoulder, raised his joined palms toward me, and said, ‘Sir, let the Blessed One teach the Dhamma! Let the Holy One teach the Dhamma! 王子よ、そのとき梵天（ぼんてん）サハンパティは、上衣（こうい）を片肩にかけ、私のいる方へと合掌して礼拝し、こう申しました。
「尊者よ、世尊（せそん）よ、どうか法（ダンマ）を説いてください。善逝（ぜんぜい）よ、どうか法を説いてください。この世には、眼の塵（ちり）の少ない者たちがおります。彼らは法を聞かずして、衰えゆくばかりなのです。法を了解する者たちが、必ずや現れましょう。」
王子よ、梵天サハンパティはこのように語り、さらに続けて言いました。
「そこで私は、梵天の懇請（こんせい）を了知し、また衆生（しゅじょう）への慈愍（じみん）の心をもって、仏眼（ぶつげん）をもってこの世界を観察いたしました。」
