unsatisfied with the near shore of the ocean, Then, having approved and agreed with what the Buddha said, the brahmins and householders of Thullakoṭṭhika got up from their seat, bowed, and respectfully circled the Buddha, keeping him on their right, before leaving. 海のこなた（此岸）に飽き足らず、
やがて、トゥッラコッティカの婆羅門（バラモン）たちと居士（こじ）たちは、世尊の法（ダンマ）の教示によって教え示され、励まされ、鼓舞され、喜ばされて、世尊の御言葉を喜び受け容れ、座より立ち上がって世尊を礼拝し、右繞（うにょう）して立ち去った。
トゥッラコッティカの婆羅門たちと居士たちが立ち去って間もなく、良家の子ラッタパーラは世尊のおられるところへと近づいた。近づいて世尊を礼拝し、かたわらに坐した。かたわらに坐したラッタパーラは、世尊にこのように申し上げた。
「世尊よ、わたくしが世尊の説かれた法（ダンマ）を理解するかぎりにおいては、家に住む者が、完全に充ち満ちた清らかな梵行（ぼんぎょう）を修めることは、容易なことではございません。」
