そのとき、サクルダーイー（Sakuludāyī）遊行者は、居合わせた遊行者たちを静めてから、世尊にこう申し上げた。
「しかしながら、尊師よ、いかなる境地に至ったとき、完全なる楽（ekantasukha）の世界が証得（sacchikata）されたと言えるのでしょうか。」
「ウダーイーよ、ここに一人の比丘がいるとしよう。楽（sukha）を捨て、苦（dukkha）を捨て、さきに歓喜と憂悩とを滅することによって、第四禅（catuttha-jhāna）に入り、そこに住する。完全なる楽の世界に生まれた天神（devatā）たちがいる。その比丘は彼ら天神たちとともに住し、語らい、論議を交わす。ウダーイーよ、まさにこの境地に至ったとき、完全なる楽の世界が証得されたと言うのである。」
「尊師よ、されば比丘たちが世尊のもとで清浄行（brahmacariya）を修めるのは、まさにこの完全なる楽の世界を証得するためにほかならないのでしょうか――」
