「尊き方よ、たとえば、ヴェールリヤ（吠瑠璃）の宝珠があるとしましょう。天然の光沢を持ち、八面に整えられ、よく磨き上げられたものが、クリーム色の敷物の上に置かれたとき、輝き、照り映え、光を放ちます。死後、病を離れた自己（アッタン）の光輝とは、まさにそのようなものであります。」
「ウダーイよ、どのように思うか。よく磨き上げられたそのヴェールリヤの宝珠と、暗夜の闇の中に光る蛍とでは、いずれの光輝がより優れ、より勝れているであろうか。」
「尊き方よ、暗夜の闇の中に光る蛍の方が、まさに優れておりましょう。」
