「ようこそ、尊師よ、世尊（バガヴァン）においでいただきました。尊師よ、世尊がここにお越しになる機会を設けてくださいましたのは、まことに久しぶりのことでございます。どうぞ、尊師よ、世尊はお座りくださいませ。この座席が整えてございます。」
世尊は設けられた座に着かれた。サクルダーイー遊行者（パリッバージャカ）もまた、一つの低い座を取り、かたわらに座した。
「尊師よ、先ほど私どもが語り合っておりました話は、しばらく措くといたしましょう。パクダ・カッチャーヤナ、サンジャヤ・ベーラッティプッタ、そしてニャーティカ族の出の尼乾子（ニガンタ・ナータプッタ）――これらの者たちは、いずれも教団（サンガ）を率い、大衆（ガナ）を従え、大衆の師（ガナーチャーリヤ）として知られ、名声を博し、宗教的な道（ティッタ）を開いた者として、多くの人々から尊崇されております。この沙門ゴータマもまた、教団を率い、大衆を従え、大衆の師として……」
