This is the fourth dimension of mastery. Not perceiving form internally, someone sees forms externally, blue, with blue color and blue appearance. They’re like a flax flower that’s blue, with blue color and blue appearance. Or a cloth from Varanasi that’s smoothed on both sides, blue, with blue color and blue appearance. In the same way, not perceiving form internally, someone sees forms externally, blue, with blue color and blue appearance. Mastering them, they perceive: ‘I know and see.’ This
これが第四の制処（abhibhāyatana）である。内に色想（arūpasaññī）を持たぬ者が、外に青色の形色（rūpa）を見る。青く、青い色彩を帯び、青い様相を呈し、青く輝く形色を。たとえば、亜麻の花が青く、青い色彩を帯び、青い様相を呈し、青く輝くがごとく。あるいはまた、バーラーナシー（Bārāṇasī）産の両面を磨き上げた布が、青く、青い色彩を帯び、青い様相を呈し、青く輝くがごとくである。かくのごとく、内に色想を持たぬ者が、外に青く、青い色彩を帯び、青い様相を呈し、青く輝く形色を見る。そしてそれらを制してのち、「われは知り、見たり」と認識する。これが第五の制処（abhibhāyatana）である。
