Not perceiving form internally, they see forms externally. This is the second liberation. They’re focused only on beauty. This is the third liberation. 内なる色想（しきそう）を持たずして、外なる諸々の色（しき）を見る。これが第二の解脱（げだつ）である。ただ清浄なる美（びょう）のみを心に念じる。これが第三の解脱である。
あらゆる色想（しきそう）を完全に超え、障礙想（しょうげそう）の滅尽により、種々想（しゅじゅそう）を作意せず、「虚空は無辺なり」と観じて、空無辺処（くうむへんしょ）に入り、そこに住する。これが第四の解脱（げだつ）である。
さらにまた、ウダーインよ、わたしは弟子たちに修道（しゅどう）を示した。その修道にしたがって修行する弟子たちは、八つの勝処（しょうしょ・abhibhāyatana）を修め育てるのである。
これが第三の勝処（しょうしょ）である。内に色想なき者が、外なる諸々の色を、量りなく、美醜を問わず見る――
