「ヴァッチャよ、そのような在家の女性弟子（upāsikā）たちで、白衣をまとい、欲楽（kāma）を享受しながら、教えを実践し、戒を守り、疑惑（vicikicchā）を断ち、迷いを離れ、確固たる信（vesārajja）を得て、他の拠り所を求めることなく、師の教えのうちに住する者は、ただ百人のみにあらず、二百、三百、四百、五百のみにあらず、さらにはるかに多くの者たちがいるのである。」
「もし、ゴータマ尊者おひとりのみがこの法（dhamma）において成就し、比丘たちが成就せず、欲楽を享受する在家男性信者たちが成就せず、清浄行（brahmacarya）を行ずる在家女性信者たちが成就せず、欲楽を享受する在家女性信者たちが成就しないのであれば、この梵行（brahmacariya）はその点において不完全なものとなりましょう。しかしながら、ゴータマ尊者もまた成就し、比丘たちもまた成就し——」
