中部経典（MN70 §12.6–15.1）
They’re incapable of being negligent. I say that mendicants still have work to do with diligence if they are trainees, who haven’t achieved their heart’s desire, but live aspiring to the supreme sanctuary from the yoke. Why is that? Thinking: ‘Hopefully this venerable will frequent appropriate lodgings, associate with good friends, and control their faculties. Then they might realize the supreme culmination of the spiritual path in this very life, and live having achieved with their own insight
かれらは放逸に陥ることができない。
比丘たちよ、いまだ心の目的を達せず、無上の安穏（ヨーガの止息・ヨーガッケーマ）を求めて住する有学（セッカ）の比丘たちに対して、わたしは「不放逸をもって為すべきことがある」と説く。それはいかなる故か。
「願わくば、この尊者たちが、ふさわしい住処（センアーサナ）に親しみ、善き友（カリャーナミッタ）と交わり、諸々の根（インドリヤ）を整え修めるならば、良家の子弟たちが家を出て正しく出家したその目的、すなわち無上なるもの――梵行（ブラフマチャリヤ）の究竟（パリヨーサーナ）を、現世においてみずから勝知（アビンニャー）し、証得して住することができるであろう」と、そのように思うからである。
