「あるいは法随行者（ダンマーヌサーリー）、あるいは信随行者（サッダーヌサーリー）に対して、わたしがこのように言ったとしよう。『比丘よ、来たれ。汝はわたしのために泥の上の橋となれ』と。さて、その者は自ら渡るであろうか、あるいは身をよじって抜け出そうとするであろうか、あるいはただ否と言うであろうか。」
「いいえ、世尊よ、そのようなことはございません。」
「ここに両分解脱者（ウバトーバーガヴィムッタ）である比丘があるとして、わたしがその者にこのように言ったとしよう。『比丘よ、来たれ。汝はわたしのために泥の上の橋となれ』と。さて、その者は自ら渡るであろうか、あるいは身をよじって抜け出そうとするであろうか、あるいはただ否と言うであろうか。」
