The Buddha said this: “Ānanda, take an unlearned ordinary person who has not seen the noble ones, and is neither skilled nor trained in the teaching of the noble ones. They’ve not seen true persons, and are neither skilled nor trained in the teaching of the true persons. That misapprehension of precepts and observances is entrenched in them, not eliminated: it is a lower fetter. 世尊はこのように仰せられた。「アーナンダよ、ここに、多くを聞かざる凡夫（ぼんぷ）がいる。彼は聖者（アリヤ）たちに親しまず、聖者の法（アリヤダンマ）に熟達せず、聖者の法において訓練されていない。また、善き人々に親しまず、善き人々の法に熟達せず、善き人々の法において訓練されていない。
そのような者にあっては、戒禁取（シーラッバタパラーマーサ）が根深く残り、除き去られることなく、下分結（オランバーギヤ・サンヨージャナ）として存続している。
彼は欲貪（カーマラーガ）によって心を覆われ、欲貪によって心を征服されたまま住する。そして、すでに生じた欲貪からの出離を、ありのままに知ることがない。かくして、その欲貪は根深く残り、除き去られることなく、下分結として存続している。
また彼は、瞋恚（ビャーパーダ）によって心を覆われ、瞋恚によって心を征服されたまま住する。
