「マールキャプッタよ、幼い赤子にはそもそも『法（ダンマ）』という概念すら存在しない。では、いかにして法に対する疑惑（ヴィチキッチャー）が彼らのうちに生じ得ようか。しかしながら、疑惑の随眠（アヌサヤ）は、まさにその者のうちに潜み続けているのである。
マールキャプッタよ、幼い赤子にはそもそも『戒（シーラ）』という概念すら存在しない。では、いかにして戒律と禁戒に対する邪執（シーラッバタパラーマーサ）が彼らのうちに生じ得ようか。しかしながら、戒禁取の随眠（シーラッバタパラーマーサーヌサヤ）は、まさにその者のうちに潜み続けているのである。
マールキャプッタよ、幼い赤子にはそもそも『欲（カーマ）』という概念すら存在しない。では、いかにして欲望に対する欲貪（カーマッチャンダ）が彼らのうちに生じ得ようか。しかしながら——」
